ORCID Policy

The Journal of Climate Informatics and Artificial Intelligence (JCIAI) encourages all authors to register for and use an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID iD) to ensure accurate author identification, improve research discoverability, and strengthen the integrity of scholarly communication.

An ORCID iD is a unique, persistent digital identifier that distinguishes researchers from others with similar names and enables reliable linking of authors with their scholarly contributions throughout their careers.

JCIAI supports the use of ORCID in accordance with international best practices and encourages its integration throughout the manuscript submission and publication process.

1. Purpose

The objectives of this policy are to:

  • Support interoperability across scholarly publishing systems.

This policy applies to:

  • Corresponding Authors

  • Co-authors

  • Editors

  • Editorial Board Members

  • Reviewers (where applicable)

The journal encourages all contributors to obtain and maintain an ORCID iD.

3. ORCID Registration

Authors who do not already have an ORCID iD are encouraged to register free of charge through the official ORCID website.

Registration requires only a few minutes and provides a lifelong digital identifier that can be used across publishers, funding agencies, institutions, and research organizations.

4. Submission Requirements

During manuscript submission, the corresponding author is encouraged to provide their ORCID iD.

Co-authors are also encouraged to provide their ORCID iDs whenever available.

Providing ORCID information helps ensure accurate indexing, author attribution, and metadata quality.

5. Use of ORCID in Published Articles

Where provided, authors' verified ORCID iDs may be displayed alongside their names in the published article and included in the article metadata submitted to indexing services and digital publishing platforms.

This enhances discoverability and ensures that published work is correctly attributed to its creators.

6. Benefits of ORCID

Using an ORCID iD helps authors to:

  • Improve research visibility.

  • Simplify manuscript submission.

7. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  • Providing an accurate ORCID iD.

  • Ensuring that the ORCID iD belongs to the submitting author.

  • Maintaining current information within their ORCID record.

  • Authorizing the journal to associate their ORCID iD with published articles where applicable.

Providing false or misleading ORCID information may result in editorial action.

8. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors may encourage authors to provide ORCID iDs during manuscript submission and publication.

Where appropriate, editors may request clarification if discrepancies are identified between author information and the associated ORCID record.

Editorial decisions are not influenced by whether an author possesses an ORCID iD.

9. Responsibilities of the Publisher

Novadex Publications supports the integration of ORCID into the journal's publishing workflow.

The Publisher is committed to:

  • Promoting the adoption of ORCID.

  • Supporting accurate author identification.

  • Maintaining high-quality publication metadata.

  • Improving interoperability with indexing and abstracting services.

  • Following recognized standards for scholarly publishing.

Where technically feasible, ORCID information may be incorporated into article metadata and publishing systems.

10. Privacy and Data Protection

ORCID iDs provided during manuscript submission will be processed in accordance with the journal's Privacy Statement and applicable data protection regulations.

Only information necessary for publication, indexing, and scholarly communication will be used by the journal.

Authors remain responsible for managing the visibility settings of their ORCID records through their ORCID account.
