Language Editing Policy

The Journal of Climate Informatics and Artificial Intelligence (JCIAI) is committed to publishing high-quality scholarly content that is clear, accurate, and understandable to an international readership.

Authors are responsible for submitting manuscripts written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Manuscripts with language deficiencies that hinder scientific evaluation may be returned to the authors for language improvement before peer review or prior to publication.

This policy is intended to improve the readability and accessibility of published research while ensuring that editorial decisions are based on scientific merit rather than language proficiency.

2. Language Requirements

JCIAI publishes manuscripts in English.

Authors should ensure that manuscripts are:

  • Scientifically accurate and unambiguous.

Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek language editing before submission if necessary.

3. Professional Language Editing

Authors may choose to use professional English language editing services before submission.

The use of such services is voluntary and entirely at the authors' discretion.

The journal does not require authors to use any specific language editing provider and does not endorse or recommend commercial editing services.

The cost of any language editing service is the responsibility of the authors.

4. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Assisted Language Editing

Authors may use Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tools to improve language, grammar, spelling, or readability.

Examples include:

  • Grammar correction.

  • Spelling correction.

  • Sentence restructuring.

  • Language refinement.

AI-assisted language editing must not:

  • Generate or fabricate scientific content.

  • Alter research findings.

  • Create references that do not exist.

  • Replace the authors' scientific judgment or responsibility.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted manuscript.

5. Editorial Assessment

Editors may assess the language quality of submitted manuscripts during the initial editorial evaluation.

Where language deficiencies substantially impair scientific understanding, the Editorial Office may:

  • Request language revision before peer review.

  • Return the manuscript for improvement.

  • Recommend professional language editing.

  • Decline to proceed with peer review until adequate revisions have been made.

Language quality alone will not determine editorial acceptance if the scientific content meets the journal's standards.
