Research Funding Policy

The Journal of Agricultural Technology and Food Systems (JATAFS) is committed to promoting transparency and accountability in scholarly publishing. Authors are required to disclose all sources of financial support related to the research submitted for publication.

Disclosure of funding information helps readers, reviewers, and editors understand the context in which research was conducted and supports the identification of potential conflicts of interest.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to JATAFS.

1. Purpose

The objectives of this policy are to:

  • Promote transparency regarding research funding.

This policy applies to all manuscript types submitted to JATAFS, including:

  • Editorials

  • Letters to the Editor

Authors must disclose all financial support associated with the submitted work.

3. Funding Disclosure Requirements

Authors must include a Funding Statement within the manuscript at the time of submission.

The statement should identify:

  • Funding organization or agency.

  • Grant or award number (where applicable).

  • Principal investigator (if applicable).

  • Nature of the financial support.

If the research received no external funding, authors should state:

Funding Statement: The authors declare that no external funding was received for this research.

4. Types of Funding

Funding may include, but is not limited to:

  • Government research grants.

  • University or institutional funding.

  • Hospital or healthcare organization support.

  • Industry or commercial sponsorship.

  • Non-profit organizations.

  • Professional societies.

  • International funding agencies.

  • Charitable foundations.

  • Internal departmental funding.

All sources of financial support should be disclosed regardless of the amount received.

5. Role of the Funding Source

Authors should clearly describe the role of the funding organization, if any, in:

  • Study design.

  • Data collection.

  • Data analysis.

  • Interpretation of results.

  • Manuscript preparation.

  • Decision to submit the manuscript for publication.

Where the funding organization had no involvement, authors are encouraged to state:

The funding organization had no role in the design of the study; collection, analysis, or interpretation of data; writing of the manuscript; or the decision to submit the article for publication.

6. Relationship with Conflicts of Interest

Funding disclosures do not replace the journal's Conflict of Interest Policy.

Authors must separately disclose:

  • Financial interests.

  • Employment relationships.

  • Consultancy roles.

  • Stock ownership.

  • Honoraria.

  • Patents.

  • Other relationships that could influence the reported research.

Complete transparency supports objective editorial evaluation and informed readership.

7. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete funding information.

  • Disclosing all relevant financial support.

  • Reporting funding honestly.

  • Updating funding information if changes occur before publication.

  • Ensuring consistency between funding disclosures and other declarations within the manuscript.

Failure to disclose funding information may constitute a breach of publication ethics.

8. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors may review funding disclosures during editorial assessment.

Where clarification is required, editors may request:

  • Additional funding information.

  • Grant documentation.

  • Clarification regarding sponsor involvement.

  • Updated funding statements.

Funding information will not influence editorial decisions, which are based solely on scientific merit, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal.

9. Responsibilities of the Publisher

Novadex Publications is committed to maintaining transparency in research funding disclosures.

The Publisher supports:

  • Accurate reporting of funding information.

  • Compliance with international publishing standards.

  • Ethical editorial practices.

  • Transparent scholarly communication.

Funding disclosures will be published as part of the final article where applicable.

10. Undisclosed Funding

If undisclosed funding is identified before or after publication, JATAFS may investigate the matter in accordance with its Publication Ethics Policy.

Where appropriate, the journal may:

  • Request clarification from the authors.

  • Publish a correction.

  • Issue an Expression of Concern.

  • Retract the article in cases of serious or intentional non-disclosure.

Appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the journal's editorial policies.
